Modern Farmhouse Front Porch Fall Decor

Today I’m sharing our new modern farmhouse front porch decorated for fall with simple grocery store finds.

It’s officially Fall!

As I mentioned earlier this week when I shared our warm, earthy rustic fall living room as well as the fall changes I’ve made to the dining room, I’m super excited about fall this year!  It feels so good to finally be settled in enough at our new build that I have time to look forward to decorating for the seasons. I’m also thrilled to have a decent sized front entry area again, plus our new fun little front porch!

Fall is one of the best seasons to decorate for outdoors, because there are so many readily available fall finds right at your local grocery store! Mums and pumpkins are pretty much all you need to add some festive seasonal cheer to your entry. Our modern farmhouse front porch fall decor pays testament to that fact. Simple, colourful, cheerful and welcoming; and all it took were some inexpensive finds from my local grocery store!

Welcome to our new build modern farmhouse style home!

I’ve had a few readers asking what the exterior of my home looks like, so here it is…

The front of the house, which is white accents in wood.

We went with all white board and batten and black exterior windows. We also did an 8 foot door with glass divisions and matching glass sidelites. It is one of my favourite features about our exterior and I’m really glad we went with the oversized door and so much glass.

I shared my DIY wreath tutorial made with dried florals a couple of weeks back – I love how it looks on our new door…

A wooden white door with glass, there is pumpkins on the front porch.

I also chose simple modern exterior lighting, and we did quite a few pot lights in our soffits, so the house looks really pretty at night as well. I love how all the simple but colourful plants and pumpkins look against the bright white backdrop of our house. We painted it in Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace.

Up close look at the pumpkins and flowers on the porch.

I’ve still got my ferns going strong from the summer and I love the contrast of them with the natural orange pumpkins.

Bright green ferns are on the steps of the porch.

Happiness is when the Mums come out… though it does seem like they’re coming out earlier and earlier every year. I just hope I can make them last a few weeks as I love the bright welcoming colour they add.

Purple, yellow and red flowers are in containers.

Then I added some winter pansies to my bigger pots to fill them and popped a couple of cute mini pumpkins in each. I like to keep any of my summer plants that will last into the fall, and then bring in some seasonal touches to transition the porch to Autumn.

A large pot is filled with flowers and vines by the front door.

This new doormat is from HomeSense – I love layering a smaller jute mat with a seasonal look overtop of my printed mat that stays out all year long. It’s an inexpensive and easy switch that totally changes the look from summer to fall.

A front door mat that says Happy Fall.

I repeated the same elements on either side of the door as I think this porch really suits a symmetrical look.

A container garden is by the front door.

Mini white pumpkins are in the container garden.

A small wreath is on the front door to the home.

AND!! Now I get to decorate our cute little front porch as well – how fun is that? I’ve never had a real front porch before, so this area is a huge bonus. Plus it is the perfect size to house our pew.

There are pumpkins and containers with flowers on the porch.

On the front porch there is a small wooden bench with throw pillows on it.

I mixed in a seasonal pumpkin throw pillow that I already owned with some of my classic blue outdoor pillows, and added a cheerful throw blanket with pops of pinky red tones. I like how it ties in the colours of the Mums.

Pillows and a blanket are on the bench.

There are wooden beams on the front porch.

A large pumpkin is beside the bench.

Fun, right? I love coming home and being welcomed by all the cheerful fall blooms, pumpkins, and decorative touches. It might be a lot of decor for some, but it’s just right for us:)

It was so fun to outfit our porch for Fall!

Is it weird that I’m already thinking about decorating the porch for Christmas? Actually, don’t answer that…
