Winter Holiday New Year’s Eve Table Decor Ideas

Today I’m sharing a winter holiday tablescape that would work beautifully for New Year’s Eve with pops of white, gold, & grey.  I’m also joining some friends who are sharing their beautiful NYE tablescape ideas today.

New Year’s Eve.

Although it’s only days away, it’s always hard for me to wrap my head around it with Christmas so close on the horizon.  I look forward to the holidays so much each year and then they tend to disappear in a busy flurry of baking and wrapping; cooking and cleaning; visiting and hosting.  We are looking forward to hosting a couple of events over the holidays, so it’s been fun to play around with my holiday decorating ideas the past couple of weeks.

Winter Tablescape

Today I’m sharing a winter tablescape that is well suited to both Christmas and New Year’s Eve, though I glammed it up a little for the big night by bringing in some sparkly gold accents and hanging my free printable gold banner (see it here).  I hope you find some inspiration for your holiday decor this season…

Winter Holiday Table Decor Ideas

Today my friend Bre, from Rooms FOR Rent, is hosting a fun tablescape hop and I’m joining several of my blogging friends who are also sharing their NYE table decor ideas.  Be sure to check out what they are sharing at the bottom of today’s post.

A dining room table set for New Years Eve.

The table setting was simple to put together.  I started with a big white vase and stuffed it with some winter boughs (faux – from Michaels).  Then I added some simple dollar store glass candle holders and candles and surrounded it with fluffy white “snow” to create a wintery feel.  I also used my DIY fur napkin rings with my homemade double sided cloth napkins.

But the star of the whole show to me is the dishes.

There is a wooden bread basket full of bread on the table.

We’ve never been fancy dish people; we didn’t get china or even Denby for our wedding, and used a colourful collection of Fiestaware purchased at Costco with our wedding money for the first several years of our marriage.

Candles in votives are on the table.

Turqoise cloth napkins are on the wooden table.

A white ceramic vase is filled with evergreen and pine cones.

Next, we moved on to a simple square white dish set that we were never completely happy with.  It wasn’t flat on the bottom, and the dishes were uneven and rattled and moved around while we were eating.  Definitely not a quality you look for in a dish set.

Ceramic dishes in a soft grey with a light brown edge.

A large floral picture is behind the table on the wall with a New Years banner on it.

So when we moved into this house and knew we were renovating, I sold most of our dishware aside from our blue Pfaltzgraf set rather than store things that we knew we didn’t really want.  And after a year of ogling these gorgeous dishes from Urban Barn waiting for the right sale to arrive… it happened!

Gold cutlery is beside the plates and bowls on the table.

There is a white diamond patterned rug just off the dining room.

Soft candlelight is on the table.

I purchased enough for 8 place settings, but since we often host family dinners of at least 12 I’m definitely going to buy one more set.  Also I might even get two more, which would be enough to use at Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter.

Christmas Present

I wonder if my husband will read this post and think about getting me the next pieces for Christmas this year? Besides I have a feeling that he hasn’t shopped yet…

A bottle or two of wine is beside the plates on the table.

There is an evergreen garland around the picture on the wall.

This tablescape would be as equally at home on Christmas or even in January or February, as it is on New Year’s Eve.  The touch of New Year’s glam comes from the gold accents in the hardware, pillows, and (free printable) Happy New Year banner that I adorned our artwork with.  You can see how you can download your own copy here.

Throw pillows are on the bench in the dining room.

Lit candles are on the table beside the pottery.

No matter what your dishes look like, or your table, the best part of the holidays is creating special memories with those we love.  I hope you have a season full of light and joy, laughter and friendship.

Clear glasses filled with water are on the table.

See something you love?

I’ve gathered some similar dish sets for you…
