Simple DIY Beaded Christmas Ornaments with Wooden Beads
Today I’m sharing how I made some elegant yet very simple DIY beaded Christmas Ornaments using wooden beads – the perfect addition to our natural and neutral wood and white rustic chic Christmas tree decor.
It feels like everyone needs a little extra Christmas in their lives this year. Normally I feel like the only crazy person talking about putting up my tree in November…but this year I’ve had a lot of people say they are ready for the holiday season to arrive already! I think many of us would like to skip right to Christmas and are feeling the need for the extra bit of peace and cozy cheer that Christmas lights and the Christmas tree bring to our homes.
As I mentioned when I shared my Snowy Forest watercolour printable recently, with being in the woodsy cabin this year I’m trying to keep our holiday decor pared down and simpler than usual. Because there is so much natural wood in our trim, beams, and flooring, I wanted to add a lot of white and stick with mainly whites and wood for our Christmas decor. Neutral Christmas decor is not something that I’ve often done before, as I usually add a good amount of bold colour for Christmas, but this year it just feels right.
To make these simple DIY beaded Christmas ornaments I used wooden beads and twine and/or jute rope.
I made a few different styles of wooden beaded Christmas ornaments and varied the sizes of my beads as I went. I made some that were round, almost like a tiny wood bead wreath, with the largest to the medium sized beads, and then some using jute rope with the smaller beads. I also made some rustic wood beaded ornaments in a long strip stacking the beads from largest to smallest at the top. You could even make an entire garland for your tree in this manner!
They add such a natural, hand made, pretty element to our Christmas tree. I love the light, rustic, and simple feel of these beaded Christmas ornaments.
I love making ornaments for our tree, based on the look and feel of what I’m going for with the Christmas decor each year. Last year for the Seasonal Simplicity DIY Ornament hop I made these adorable vintage Christmas Light Ornaments…
