Classic Christmas Kitchen and Dining Room

This year I decorated my kitchen and dining room in a classic Christmas style decor!

I’m super thrilled today to be joining up with a talented group of Canadian home bloggers for the annual Canadian Home Bloggers Christmas Tour Series. Thanks to Shannon of AKA Design and Christina of The DIY Mommy for hosting this tour! Make sure to check out the all of the inspiration at the bottom of this post!

The kitchen.

It just might be the unsung hero of our Christmas celebrations.

It’s where we bake the Christmas cookies. Build the gingerbread houses. Prep the holiday appy’s before the parties. Mix up delicious drinks to serve our guests. Prepare and cook beautiful holiday meals.

And how many times do get-togethers and parties and family dinners end up with everyone in the kitchen? So why not give the kitchen the Christmas love that it deserves?

Add a few subtle holiday decorations, some lovely garlands, and maybe some pops of natural greenery. That’s all it takes to add a warm, Christmas feel to the most-used room in our homes…

Holiday garland in the kitchen.

Today I’m sharing our simple Christmas kitchen tour, as well as a little peek at our decorated dining room. I used greenery, garlands, and Christmas wreaths and kept with a simple and classic green and white theme, aside from the pop of red that my KitchenAid lends to the scene. It’s perfect because Christmas is about the only time of year that we bake around here!

Tucking bits of fragrant cedar and pine around is an easy (and free way) to insert Christmas joy into any little part of your regular decor…

A small glass jar holds evergreen branches.

The tea tray.

Last year it was a hot chocolate tray.

The best part about it, is that I can switch it up for any season or theme that suits. Still one of my favourite kitchen finds…

Those stools at the island are where we do homework, eat snacks and enjoy casual meals togethers. It’s where we spend all kinds of time as a family, visiting, chatting, and catching up on life. It’s where our family snugs up when they are over for big family dinners. And it’s also where my boys will sit to build their gingerbread houses this holiday season…

I shared our tartan plaid Christmas tablescape yesterday and as beautiful as it was, it’s not really suitable for our daily meals {taco Tuesday and tartan plaid?}. Things in the dining room are normally a little more scaled back and simple on a daily basis…

Dining room decorated.

I just ordered these new super comfortable dining chairs from Wayfair and love their low profile and lovely shape. I’ll be sharing more about them tomorrow.

Our flocked tree competes in my heart for the favourite tree prize… it’s between that and our giant ski-lodge chic Christmas tree that I shared the details about yesterday.

I shared this BELIEVE banner as a free printable a couple of weeks ago, in case you can think of a spot that it would be perfect in your home! Pop over here to download your own copy.

{I also shared a free printable faux burlap “Joy to the World” Banner the other day!}

A large tree just off the dining room.

Our pew is one of my favourite furniture pieces of all time; it was gifted to us by some dear friends. I kept the wall above it really simple this year with just the BELIEVE banner and simple pine garlands (a Costco find last season). I’m loving the light, bright, clean and simple look.

I can’t wait to share more about our new bar cabinet with you tomorrow! It’s such a great new addition to the dining room…

A cardboard Christmas village is on the sideboard.

I found these punch out cardboard village houses in a set at the Dollarama and my youngest put them together – it was such a fun challenge for him and he loves being part of decorating and crafting and building things.

Well, thanks for coming by for the tour!
