Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, my friends!

2021 was another crazy year for many of us, and I’m glad to be heading into 2022 with my health. I’m feeling optimistic and determined to make it a happy and successful year, in spite of any challenges that we are facing around us in our communities and in the world at large.

The first half of 2022 was definitely busy and somewhat difficult for our family. I worked full-time in my teaching position until June (most years I work about 80%) which meant some long and busy days. Our new build got to the “lock-up” stage around Christmas last year, and come late February we began to spend a good deal of time on doing much of the finishing work. We painted the interior ourselves, did the flooring along with a couple of friends who helped, and were involved in doing the trim work as well.

We moved from the cabin into our new house at the end of March, but it wasn’t completely finished until about July. We also lost our beautiful 2 year old yellow lab to bone cancer last April and her illness definitely put a damper on the excitement of moving into our new build. I didn’t post very consistently during that time.

Once the house was mainly finished we were able to relax a bit and spent a great deal of time at our lake property this summer. We sold the lake cabin that we lived in while we built our house and purchased a piece of vacant land at the lake instead. We plan to build on it in a few years once the boys are older. Our hope is to build a carriage house there this year that will double as a summer cabin until we build our more permanent home. We definitely were thrilled to have things open up a lot over the summer and to see family and friends again as well as put away our masks.

After a summer of relaxing and enjoying as much time with our friends and family as possible, I felt refreshed and excited to get back to my job and blog in the Fall.  It has also been great to have our boy’s sports open up again and we’ve been traveling quite often on the weekends for soccer. This school year I am back to teaching just 4 days a week, so it’s been wonderful to have a bit more time for my blog and the coursework I’ve begun. I’m currently enrolled in an Interior Design program through Yorkville University and hoping to be able to apply my learning this coming year as we begin to add more personal touches to the decor in our new build.

I’ve got lots of exciting things to share with you in the months ahead, including a revisit of my 10 week organizing challenge this January; New Build edition! I’ll share a post after the holidays with all my plans for 2022, but today I’m excited to be sharing my updated family planning calendar with you all.

Consider it a Christmas gift to you; my loyal readers!  We absolutely love this calendar in our home; it’s my FIFTH year updating and republishing it to share!  The lined boxes are my favourite – it makes it so much easier to keep all your activities appointments straight and your calendar looking tidy instead of like it’s been attacked by exploding ink.

I have made this calendar available in my printable library in both and 8.5 x 11 size for a regular printer, or in an 11 x 17 family planning calendar size.I love the lines on this calendar; and when printed in the larger size it gives you call kinds of room to write down all the activities and appointments in your busy family life!

All 12 months of 2022 are available in two sizes: 11×17 (because I like LOTS of space for writing in) and 8.5×11 for a smaller, easy to print at home version.  The 8.5×11 size also fits nicely on a clipboard, which can easily be hung on a command hook on your wall or inside a cabinet door. In the past I’ve had it printed at a local Staples copy center, and also used a printed version that I made at home.  Both worked equally well.

  1. It sounds like 2022 has been a busy and eventful year for your family so far, with a full-time teaching position and work on a new build. It’s great that you were able to maintain your health despite the busy schedule. It can be challenging to juggle multiple responsibilities, but it’s always rewarding when you are able to see the results of your hard work, like the completion of a new home. I hope the second half of the year brings some relaxation and enjoyment for you and your family. Wishing you continued success and happiness.
