Friday’s Faves {Christmas Tree Edition!}

Hello friends! Happy Friday!

I’m a little behind this week because I’ve been battling a rotten cold. Thankfully I’m feeling much better and on the mend and it doesn’t seem to have hit anyone else in the family {yet}!

We’re in this weird place around here where things are about 80% decorated for Christmas but we still have bowls of mini pumpkins and gourds floating around. The front porch is also mid-way  through being re-sided and my fall planters are all dying off with the drop in temperature. I can’t wait to get the front porch cleaned up and ready for the holidays once the new siding is done!

Speaking of the holidays; I’ve got our two main Christmas trees up (I know…insert eye rolls) and I was feeling a bit goofy about it… but when I read this article at Country Living I realized that I’m not alone in my reasoning! In fact, I’m hoping to get our decor mostly finished up this weekend, and I’ve been searching out some beautiful woodland style Christmas tree inspiration before I tackle our 9 foot tree.

I love the cozy woodland feel of this one Via  – and the snowball pics springing out from the top are a fun touch, don’t you think? It’s definitely a smaller flocked tree then our big 9′ green, though, so harder to recreate this kind of look…

These sweet little fluffy owl ornaments would be perfect for a tree this style!

I also adore the rustic ski lodge feel of this gorgeous tree (and whole house tour!) Via The Lilypad Cottage

These  frosted berry picks would be perfect to help add some of this style to our tree…

And I also love the mix of red and burlap in this beautiful tree  Via Lia Griffith.  It’s also got the woodland rustic chic feel that I’m hoping to achieve this year; and it proves that your tree doesn’t have to be flocked to be beautiful!

This guy leaping out of the tree makes for an unexpected touch, right?

Another beautiful green tree with a cozy, cottage feel that is inspiring me is this one  Via Live Laugh Rowe. I love the red berry garland as well as the white felt ball garland, and all the pops or red and wood in the ornaments.

I think some sweet little plaid houses would be perfect for this classic cabin feel…

I also love the over-full style of this beautiful tree Via Pop of Pretty! I’d like to try to include a few more unexpected elements to ours this year; and the mix of burlap, black, white, and red is super cabin-chic pretty, don’t you think?

I think I might be able to add some similar character to my tree with these buffalo plaid tree picks

In addition to getting our trees decorated, I’d love to get my plans for crafts and DIYs settled and hit the craft store for supplies! I’m thinking of something rustic and woodland-esque for a wreath. I love this beauty Via Etsy

And also the rustic feel of the moss in this one Via. It’s very much like my “Let it Snow” Christmas wreath from last year but the moss adds a completely different feel then the fabric and “snow” yarn that I used!

And I happened upon this image white perusing this week and it stopped me in my tracks. Doesn’t it just give you a feeling of warmth and gratitude? Via

One of my closest friends has a big birthday on Saturday so we are heading to Victoria on Sunday for a girl’s trip! I can’t wait to go out for a nice dinner and take in some city sights and shopping! After hitting Michael’s and HomeSense, I’m hoping to get started on my Christmas shopping as well. I love to search out gift ideas for my boys and their cousins that are hands-on and low-tech, and this week I shared some of those if you are looking for gifts to keep kids active and busy but not always wired-in!

Did you see something inspiring?

Want to remember this?

It’s going to be a busy weekend around here with our friend’s moving into their new house; another friend’s big birthday; two soccer clinics, and a soccer jamboree as well as a girl’s trip to Victoria for the (above mentioned) big birthday! Saturday is also Remembrance Day, so we’ll be taking some time to reflect and honour current and past man and women whose bravery and courage allows us the freedom to enjoy this amazing life we live. Take care, and enjoy the weekend!

  1. So much going on, will need to take time for a few deep breaths now and then, phew, lol.
So much splendid eye candy to contemplate. The trees you featured are sure something special, how long does it take to decorate a tree that way? They sure are pretty, guess am of mind, less is more, but do enjoy looking at them.
Our living room is small so big tree doesn’t work well. Since it’s just us two we keep it simple or decorations tend to take over room. L/r is nice and cozy but if people are used to big living room like yours it’s still small but all we need.
Your home always looks so comfy but very stylish, don’t know how you do it with working, kids and all that involves. Always so much going on in your lives, guess we’ve forgotten what it’s like since our kids grew up, had their own families. And now all our grandkids are grownup. But they don’t seem inclined to get married, give us great grand kids doggone it. All going to college or working, youngest is senior in high school, will go to college. Natural progression of life, is as it should be.
Have great weekend, take care of yourself
