Layered Christmas Mantel Decor

Create a cozy feel in your living room Christmas with textured, layered Christmas mantel decor featuring greenery, wood, and warm metal.

Christmas!! Less than three weeks away! How did that happen? After one of the busiest years on record in our family, I can hardly believe that December is here. As I mentioned the other day when I shared a peak at our cozy moody Christmas tree decor, I haven’t had much of a chance to share on the blog this past year. But with the holidays here, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to join some of my blogging friends for a few idea-filled holiday posts. Today I’m sharing our layered Christmas mantel decor as long as a peak at our simple and cozy Christmas living room.

Changes to our Living Room

I kept the overall look and feel of our Christmas decor very similar to last year. In fact, the biggest changes in our living room since I shared it last Christmas is the actual furniture. We moved our Ikea sofa out to the lake to the cabin/suite that we worked on building this past year. In its place, we purchased a new Stylus sectional through a local furniture store. I then ordered a boucle white swivel chair from Costco. I also sourced a more modern organic coffee table, which introduced a needed pop of black into our space. And finally, we have a new rug in darker, cozier tones that gives the whole space a more earthy, deep, organic feel.

Layered Mantel Decor

Our Christmas mantel is layered with two pine garlands that I picked up years ago at Costco. I love how rustic and natural they are. I layered some wood bead garlands, my little white Scandi light-up house garland, and some vintage looking brass bell garland over and under the pine. Yes, that is FOUR garlands all together on this mantel. It’s all attached using command hooks – my favourite no fuss trick for layered pieces during the holiday season.

On the mantel itself, I kept it really simple with two sets of vases stuffed with wintery greens. I popped in a couple of adorable flocked mini bottle brush style trees I found at our local dollar store. Since we have the Frame TV, we can change up the art over the mantel whenever we like. For the season, I selected with a simple village scene that has tones of clay and brick in it, as it ties in well with the mural in our dining room. Overall the colour scheme is tones of greens and creams/whites, with a pop of brown and earthy clay tones.

Cozy Moody Christmas Tree

The tree is very neutral and full of wood, white, brass, and deep moody ornaments along with some wood and black bead garlands. More of the mini-vintage brass bell garland as well. The deepest layer of snow is actually feather duster ends that I use each year (they’re pulled right off of those dollar store feather dusters)!

Although not minimal by any stretch of the imagination, our Christmas decor is definitely greatly reduced from previous years. With all the busyness of 2023, I wanted to get the decor up and enjoy the cozy layers and all the lights, without spending too much time and energy reinventing it all. I love how it turned out!
