Super Quick and Thrifty Halloween Mantel Decor
Halloween!?!
Seriously. It’s less then two weeks away.
I can’t believe how fast quickly this fall is whipping by. In fact, I just about skipped decorating for Halloween at all.
But then my youngest son asked about it. He loves getting out the Halloween decor… he loves the spiders and skulls and little skeletons.
So I kept it pretty simple with this quick and thrifty Halloween mantel decor. I must say, it was kind of fun to get to use all these little Halloween DIY projects again. And it really only took me about 5 minutes to put it all together once I grabbed my Halloween “tote” from the basement.
Yes, I have a Halloween “tote”. And a Summer tote… a Spring tote… a Winter tote… and TWO Fall totes. We won’t even get into the Christmas collection.
But still – it comes in handy at times. Times like this.
I guess my decor hoarding is good for something (despite what Marie Kondo might say!)
I’ve put a gallery of all the DIY projects related to this mantel at the bottom of the post – I made the black and white sharpie pumpkins, the chevron spider art, the potion bottles, the “spell” books, and the faux mercury skull.
The best part – most of the stuff was either thrifted or dollar store finds!
Well… I’m glad I went ahead with it.
This fast and thrifty Halloween Mantel is a nice, easy little nod to Halloween around these parts without going too over-the-top this year.
And the boys love it.
Though I have a feeling that the spiders and skull might migrate into their bedroom if I don’t watch out…
And even though I only decorated a little bit for Halloween this year, in the past I have done a ton of projects and Halloween decorating.

Looks great Krista! Love the spiders crawling up the wall and the metallic skull – the mini pumpkins are awesome too. Makes me wish I was still decorating for Halloween. I have a tote, but it’s been collecting dust since the kid’s left the roost.
Hi Marie! Thanks so much – I wouldn’t have been motivated to do it this year either (I’ve been so busy since going back to teaching full time this year) but my youngest asked. And he is still cute enough to get his way:)
When I see things like this I think it is a shame that I don’t do Halloween, but I don’t and I am not going to start now because let’s be honest here it is not really an Aussie thing
Hi Jo-Anne! I have certainly scaled back my “Halloween” this year- just didn’t have the time. But it is kind of fun for the kids – they love it!
Krista – I LOVE your pumpkins… you’re giving me some no-carve ideas, lady!
Thanks Tara! I am not a big carving fan… and honestly, no-one even comes to our house on Halloween because we are more remote. We head “into town” to go trick-or-treating, so I don’t even really need a jack-o-lantern! No carve decor is perfect:) I’m thrilled you popped by – hope you are doing well!!
