5 Minute DIY Ornament Centrepiece {that will last all season!}

Today I’m sharing a quick, easy and simple 5 minute DIY Christmas ornament centrepiece that just might be perfect for your Christmas table this coming holiday season.

The holiday table.  As much as I love things to be pretty, the point of the Christmas table is for enjoying the meal, right?! And not all of us have a big buffet or server to house platters and bowls laden with turkey and all the fixings.  So how can you strike a balance between creating a beautiful Christmas tablescape to set a festive mood for yours guests, while at the same time creating space for the actual practical side of serving a delicious holiday meal?  The answer is a portable centrepiece!  And this easy 5 minute DIY ornament centrepiece definitely fits the bill…

Today I’ve joined some of my friends who are sharing their gorgeous Christmas table centrepiece ideas -be sure to check them all out at the bottom of this post.  I shared a stunning Christmas tablescape design couple of weeks back that featured these same blue and green ornaments, but spread out along the table weaving in and out of the pretty vases of greenery and candles…

A few of you commented and asked what to do with a holiday centrepiece like that when it was time to actually eat the meal! And, you know what?! I know exactly what you mean.  We have a good amount of kitchen counter space that we can place platters and dishes on, but if we didn’t I would definitely simplify things with a centrepiece like this one….

There is a Christmas ornament centrepiece with blue and green ornaments in the middle of the table.

All I did was take all of my pretty blue and green/teal/aqua ornaments and pile them artfully into a rustic wooden bowl.  I happened to pick this one up at a garage sale a few years back for a whopping $2, but I have seen beautiful wooden bowls gracing home decor stores everywhere these days (in fact, I’ve collected some similar ones below).

After the ornaments were in the bowl, I layered in cuttings of fresh cedar and pine, sliding them underneath the Christmas ornaments as well as placing a few coming out from the middle of the ornament cluster as well.

To finish it off and add to the look on a holiday table, just layer some more greenery below the bowl, and add some candles and twinkle lights to the arrangement.

There is a large floral picture behind the table set for Christmas.

The Christmas ornaments are sitting on a bed of evergreen branches.

Once it’s time to eat, you can simply life the bowl and lights off, perhaps keeping the candles for ambiance.  Then the fresh greenery can be the base for those beautiful white platters and bowls laden with your delicious meal.

Mmmmm…. I can smell the turkey now.

As I mentioned, I collected a few sources for similar bowls that would be perfect for whipping up a simple and lovely centrepiece like this.

And if you are wondering where I got all of those beautiful blue and green glass ornaments – they’re from Michael’s. I even got them on a BOGO deal!

The best part?!

I made this in November but I know it will last through the whole holiday season.  I may need to freshen up the greenery once or twice if it gets too dry, but that’s about it.  And, it looks beautiful on our bare, simple, everyday table and is easy to move out of the way for daily meals.

A quick, easy, long lasting, and practical centrepiece for the whole holiday season.  What more could you want?!
