Beautifully Simple Blue & Green Fall Mantel Decor
Well. It’s official.
Today is the first day back to reality for us.
School.
Which means… summer is over.
Perhaps not summer as a season (we still have a few weeks left to hopefully enjoy some extra sunshine and warmer temperatures).
But summer as a lifestyle.
So it seems fitting that today I’m sharing my first in a series of fall decor posts. Over the next month I’ll be sharing all the spaces in our home transformed for fall; though I have to tell you that I’ve definitely gone non-traditional with my fall decor this year.
You won’t be seeing any red or gold; orange or purple. It’s all blues and greens and some natural greyish tones. Maybe a bit of wheat thrown in for good measure.
And I’m loving how these non-traditional colours still manage to feel “fall”-ish even though they aren’t quite what you’d expect. I kept things pretty simple on our blue and green fall mantel this year, and it feels just right to me. What do you think?
I’m joining up with a talented group of my blogging friends today to share our fall mantel decor and I can’t wait to head over and see how they’ve started decorating their homes for fall…
I’ve shared the links to all of these beautiful fall mantels at the bottom of this post!
As I mentioned, I love how our non-traditional blue and green fall mantel decor seems to bridge the gap between summer and fall nicely. September is an odd time of year; not quite summer anymore but not really full blown fall either. In fact, it’s probably one of the nicest months of the year where we live. The temperatures are usually lovely and we often have many clear sunny days.
Nothing is quite as beautiful as the color of the leave turning against the bright blue sky, now is it? And something about decorating with greens and blues this fall just felt right…
The tall glass vases are from HomeSense, the faux gingko stems are from Ikea, and the blue and green fall garland is from Michaels.
The old newel posts were found at a vintage shop.
Oh, and did you might notice the chairs?
I’ll be back soon to share more details on that recent change! It’s made quite a difference to our living room as a whole…
Want to remember this?
Ready for some more awesome fall inspiration??

It’s a really pretty mantle and yes it does give that fall feel. I’m going with subtle colors this year too even though I love the traditional fall colors! Thanks for sharing with us at Merry Monday. I want to visit all the other blogs and see their decor!
So beautiful and soothing! Love the chippy spindle legs and the white sticks star.
Thank you Audra! The star stays up all year, and those old spindles are one of my favourite thrift store finds!
Beautiful Mantel Krista! I am loving the non-traditional fall colours this year as well…and you’re right, they do still feel fall like. I can’t wait to see the rest of your fall decor!
Thanks Jo-Anna! It’s pretty green around here all year; as you know, we have so many evergreen trees in comparison to brightly coloured fall leaves on the deciduous trees… I’d love to visit the east coast one day to see those stunning fall displays. Have you ever been?
I love the blue and greens !
Thanks Libby! We are definitely on the same page about that!
I love your blue and green mantle! Those are more my colors anyway. I do have traditional fall colors, but prefer teals, tans, blues and greens. Your mantle is simple but lovely.
Thank you Robyn!! I totally agree – I think those are such perfect colours all year round; even in fall!
I love this! So fun and coastal. I am gravitating towards the blues and greens this year, too, and I just love it 🙂
Best,
Kelly
Hi Kelly! Aren’t they so pretty all year round – and fall is no different!
I love it, Krista! When I hop over to your blog I know I’m in for some blue and green goodness. I love how you incorporated them into fall so beautifully, friend!
Thank you so much Amanda! You know me, alright:) It was fun to be on this hop with you!
Beautiful! The green and white pumpkins work perfectly with your driftwood star. I love the traditional deep hues of fall, but sometimes it’s nice to change things up a bit. Actually, we did a green, brown, and white tablescape for Thanksgiving last year, and it felt wonderfully fresh and vibrant!
Thank you Leslie! That tablescape colour combo sounds gorgeous- I can imagine it felt really natural!
