Buffalo Check Christmas Style Series
Today I’m sharing ideas for decorating for Christmas with buffalo check pattern and inspiration for how to create a buffalo check Christmas style in your home.
Good morning, friends!
Have you been following along with my 12 Days of Christmas Style Series?
If you have, then you may have seen yesterday’s Mad About Plaid Christmas Style.
I’ve used a lot of holiday plaid in our Christmas decor this year; and I love it.
But taking it one step further; buffalo check or buffalo plaid is one of the largest trends in home decor, fashion, and Christmas style this year.
Everywhere you look Christmas buffalo check is popping up in table runners, pillows, ribbon, plate chargers, wrapping paper, and printables.
But, what’s the difference, really, between buffalo check and regular old plaid?
Both Plaids and Buffalo check are traditional fabrics and lend a classic feel to decor; but buffalo check is much newer then tartan plaid. It originates in the mid 1800s and the classic red and black buffalo check was first designed as a wool shirting fabric by the Woolrich Mills Co. Maine Today reports that “Woolrich has a Buffalo Check shirt in its archives that is dated to around 1856. The wool found in that shirt is still being produced in the very same factory, which happens to be the oldest woolen mill in the country.” (via)
And even today, in decor, when you see buffalo check Christmas decor it seems to create a more cabin-chic feel then the traditional and preppy feel that plaids can create. Must be that lumberjack heritage coming through.
Either way; buffalo check is a cheery and classic print that creates a cozy, relaxed, and fun feel to your Christmas decor. I’m also continuing to add to my Pinterest Board about Buffalo Check Christmas Style as I find more beautiful ideas and holiday inspiration online!
Hope you find some inspiration amongst all of this Buffalo Check Christmas Style…
We even did our flocked Christmas tree with a buffalo check ribbon this year; I love how it turned out…
