DIY Faux Fur Christmas Trees

These homey faux fur Christmas tress are very unique and add interest to your holiday decor!

Good morning! I hope that all my US friends had a fabulous Thanksgiving holiday. It was just a regular day ’round these parts, but I was super thankful for the incredible sunny, clear, crisp, cold weather we have been having. With the light frost on the ground each morning, it definitely is feeling like Christmas is on it’s way! Which it is, right?! Less than a month left now.

And speaking of Christmas, I am starting a really fun series today!

For the next 12 Days straight, I am going to be sharing a Christmas project, craft DIY, or decor idea!

I can’t wait!! I have to much to share.

And today I am starting with these simple and adorable DIY Faux Fur Christmas Trees using FloraCraft® Making it Fun Foam.

I am super excited to be patterning with FloraCraft® on this project. I selected some FloraCraft® Make It: Fun® Foam Tree Cones to use as the base for this holiday project. I also bought some faux fur from my local fabric store that I plan to use a for a few Christmas craft projects this season. My hot glue gun worked perfectly for this project, though mod podge may work as well. I just didn’t try it. Grab some sewing scissors and a sharpie to round out your supplies.

Faux fur, glue, scissors and a hot glue gun on the table for the tutorial.

I simply lined the cone up with the edge of the fabric, and rolled to wrap it in the fur. Then I marked  where the two pieces would join.

Grab your scissors and cut where you marked. At the top I left a bit extra in order to allow me to fold it over and finish the faux Christmas tree top off cleanly.

Measuring and cutting the faux fur.

Next I added my super hot glue along the edge…

Using the hot glue gun to secure the edges.

Placed the foam tree right onto the hot glue, making sure to line up the bottom of the tree with the bottom of the fabric.

And then I just added glue as I rolled the cone onto the fabric…

Gluing the faux fur in the back.

Until the end where I glued it down to create a neat seam up the back. If you wanted your tree to be pretty from all sides you could add some ribbon over the seam, but I want these to be 3-sided so I don’t mind the seam.

Holding a piece of the fur in between two fingers.

Once it was all glued together neatly I trimmed off a little overlap on the bottom.

Trimming the ends of the faux fur.

To finish off the top I trimmed it a little, then added glue and folded the pieces down onto themselves to create a neat tip. If you want to embellish it more you could add a little wooden star or pinecone to the top, but I was happy with keeping it simple.

Gluing the very top of the cone.

Done! Don’t they just look so warm and cozy?!? I love how they turned out!
