DIY Chevron Hook Rack {for easy closet organizing}

I have to admit something to you.  I am a secret “closet slob”.
I like to keep our house fairly tidy (it just makes me feel better and more in control of my life when things are all in their ‘place’)…but everyday I just drop my clothes on the floor in our closet.  And I finally figured out why.

Winter Blues Mantel with a DIY Pine Cone & Pom Pom Garland

Is it just me or is there something majorly refreshing about decorating after the holidays? Although I love all the Christmas decorations it feels good to get the house cleaned up and the décor scaled back somewhat for January.  This year I was craving a calm coastal feel with lots of natural elements and texture thrown in for good measure… and this easy DIY Pine Cone and Pom Pom Garland was the perfect addition to our blue and white winter mantel.

DIY Holiday Pallet Sign: Baby It’s Cold Outside {Blue Christmas}

Hello everyone- today I am thrilled to share another blue Christmas project with you: a DIY Holiday Pallet Sign with the lyrics to one of my favourite holiday songs “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”.  Every time I read those words I can hear Zoe Deschanels beautiful voice in “Elf” singing them out loud and clear and I honestly break into song myself.  There may be a lot of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” going on around here now that it will be hanging on our wall for the next several weeks.

Easy Thrifty DIY Mini Christmas Trees {with Yarn and Feathers}

The other day I shared my method for making tree cones in order to craft yourself up some mini Christmas trees… and today I can’t wait to share what I did with all those cones.   I created beautiful Easy Thrifty DIY Yarn and Feather Christmas Trees and lined them up on our dining table as our centerpiece for the Christmas season.  The DIY is very easy and they turned out so beautifully- I keep catching myself stopping just to gaze at them.  I’m such a housie geek.  But they are very pretty and festive and the thriftiness of them totally makes my heart skip a beat. (I think the whole lot of ten trees decorated cost me about $15 for all materials and supplies).

DIY Super Easy Opaque Glass Painted Ornaments {Blue Christmas}

Blue for Christmas?!?!

Well when you see these DIY Super Easy Opaque Glass Ornaments you might be wondering if I got my seasons mixed up.  But no, I tell ya; I love blue.  It has loooooooong been my favorite color.  It goes with everything. And why not use it at Christmas?  It pairs beautifully with the more traditional colors of red and green or if a cooler palette is more your thing it works amazingly well with white and silver.  Even try blue with gold.  Stunning.  Really, blue is such a transitional colour and can work in so many décor styles.  So give it a shot.  Blue for Christmas.

DIY Chalkboard Polka Dot Christmas Countdown Sign {from an old cabinet door}

Forty days until Christmas!

It will be here before we know it! And today I am sharing this DIY Polka Dot Chalkboard Christmas Countdown Sign that I made using an old kitchen cabinet door.  It was a fun project to get me into the spirit of Christmas decorating- after finishing it I had to hold myself back from digging into all the Christmas bins and banishing my fall décor for another year.  But I will make myself wait. A few more days.
