In a few days it will be November and holiday season will be nearly upon us. Although things will look different this year in terms of the number and kinds of social gatherings we will be able to have, that doesn’t mean that we can’t still celebrate and enjoy the season with those closest to us. Often we center our celebrations and gatherings around our favourite foods and meals, from big holiday dinners to appetizer nights. Taking a pass on big parties and gatherings doesn’t have to mean missing out on our favourite holiday treats and delicacies. These simple and incredibly delicious prosciutto wrapped jalapeño popper appetizers are the perfect thing to add to your family appy-night this holiday season. Everyone in our family loves them!
All you need to make these delicious morsels are some fresh jalapeños, a brick of cream cheese, and a package of prosciutto.
Slice the jalapeños down the center and carefully remove the seeds. I’ve learned to wear gloves for this part so that I don’t end up with the jalapeño seeds and juices soaked into my skin. Once seeded, I rinse off and dry off the jalapeño halves.
Soften the cream cheese a little ahead of time and then fill each half jalapeño it. It doesn’t have to look pretty at this point!
Wrap each jalapeño half with one thin slice of prosciutto, or if they are too large you may need to use an extra half slice of prosciutto to ensure they are fully covered.
Place on a baking sheet with parchment paper or tin foil sprayed with cooking spray to make cleanup quick and easy.
Bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melty and the prosciutto is nicely browned. Broil for a minute to crisp up the prosciutto if needed.
Prosciutto Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers
A delicious and simple appetizer recipe with just 3 ingredients
- 1 brick cream cheese softened
- 10-12 jalapeno peppers
- 12-18 slices prosciutto
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Slice each jalapeno in half and carefully remove all seeds. You may wish to wear gloves for this step. Rinse under cool water and pat dry.
Fill each jalapeno half with the softened cream cheese.
Wrap each cream cheese filled jalapeno half with a slice of prosciutto. If they are large jalapenos you may need an extra half slice of prosciutto to full wrap the pepper half.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, checking. They are ready when the cream cheese is all melty and the proscuitto has crisped. You can broil for a minute if needed but watch it carefully.
