Spring Porch Decor

Decorating the front porch for spring can be quick and budget friendly with these 5 simple steps for front porch spring decor.

It’s April, friends! We’ve definitely had our fair share of April showers the past couple of days, but I managed to squeeze in some time this weekend to freshen up our front entry with some spring porch decor. I get so excited each year when the local stores and nurseries are starting to bring in all their spring and summer plants.

Our city works yard does a fabulous job with spring bulbs, and I love seeing the hyacinth, tulips and daffodils blooming all around the city. Forsythia and cherry blossoms are out in full force. Who doesn’t adore spring flowers and blooms?!

Their yearly appearance always inspires me to get outside to freshen up the front porch and the yard. Bringing in spring porch decor definitely gives your home a welcoming, cheerful feel. It can also be super quick, easy and affordable to do, with these simple front porch decor ideas.

How to decorate a front porch for spring

Front porch spring decor should be simple, cheerful, and bring a smile to your face whenever I drive or walk-up to our home. Refreshing your own porch for spring can be quick and easy with these front porch spring ideas. Budget friendly spring porch front porch decor is always top priority for me as I work on refreshing this part of our home, because the season is so brief before it’s time for the summer annuals.

This past weekend, I got outside despite the temperamental spring weather, and put my spring front porch decor ideas into action. After hitting up a local nursery and big box store for florals, I did a quick clean and freshen up of the space, and got to work adding a few cheerful front porch spring decor touches. Five simple steps and it’s looks totally revived!

Budget Friendly Spring Porch Decor

Budget friendly spring front porch decor can be quick and easy with a tiny bit of elbow grease and a few splashes of color and greenery. I followed these five simple steps to get our porch into shape for spring.

#1: Spring Cleaning

Get rid of any old boughs or branches that you used for your winter display, and freshen up/prepare your pots for some new spring plants.

Then sweep, blow it off, or even give the porch a good scrub. In our previous house, we had painted concrete so we used to also give it a yearly paint refresh in the spring. But in this house, our exposed aggregate is pretty low maintenance. A good blow off and it’s looking fresh and clean for the spring and summer.

#2: Spring Flowers

Bring in some colourful spring flowers.

You can either plant them in your year-round pots, or add in a couple of ready-to-go pots with mixed spring blooms. Usually mixed spring planters are available ready-to-go at your local nursery, hardware, grocery store, or Costco.

I stuffed our big pots with some crisp yellow violas, and added a couple of pre-planted pots to the base of it. This leaves me with very little to maintain and water but adds a fun pop to our entry!

I picked up a couple of pre-potted spring planters at the nursery that were wrapped in a shiny plastic-type of wrapper. To give it a cuter, classier look I decided to hide them inside some small baskets that I had on hand.

This video gives a good idea of how to do this yourself…

I love how much cuter they look set inside a basket than they did with their original plastic-y wrapper.

#3: Spring Wreath

Make or buy a new spring wreath for your front door.

I shared the DIY for this cheerful spring floral wreath on the blog yesterday. Inspired by this pottery barn wreath, I’m super thrilled with how mine turned out.  Over the past few years I’ve shared quite a few different spring wreath DIYS over the year, so you will likely find one to inspire you…

Learn how to make this wreath (or a similar style in different colors or tones) by reading this article I shared.

Or, if you don’t have time to craft your own wreath this season, you can always buy one! I’ve gathered a few affordable spring wreaths here…

#4: Spring Doormat

Throw down a springy layered entry rug.

I have a larger charcoal grey and white mat that I use as the base for my different seasonal jute rugs. My lower mat is from Costco, and the seasonal jute rug is from Michaels.

I’ve gathered some similar layered doormats for you below…

And similar finds for a layering mat underneath…

#5: Spring Pillows & Decor

Create a seating vignette with cheerful pillows and a throw.

I used pillows we already owned, as well as this cheery blue and white throw. Our pew, one of my favourite all time pieces, looks like it was made for this spot. Even if you have a smaller porch, adding a little chair or bench of some kind is a cute feature. It’s fun to change it up through the seasons with different pillows or accessories.

I’ve gathered some similar, cute spring pillows and throws for you below…

I hope you found some ideas you can use on your own front porch this spring so that it brings a smile to your face every time you come home!

Want to remember this? PIN It for later!
