Lake Cottage Late-Summer Beachy Decor House Tour

Good morning! If you follow me on Facebook you may already have heard of the Canadian Blogger’s Home Tour Series that is going on this week with a few talented Canadian Home Décor Bloggers sharing their house tours each day. I was super excited when Shannon and Christina invited me to be part of this tour …

If you are new here, welcome!

My name is Krista and I live here…

with my husband and these two great little helpers…

the boys

Although this is a “lake house” tour, this is actually our full-time home. We live here through all four seasons of the year.

We live on the West Coast so we have a long grey rainy season which might explain why I savour the summer so much.

Long, relaxed days full of sunshine. And relaxed decorating too.

Lots of driftwood and fresh flowers. Of course turquoise. And yellow. I love decorating with yellow in the summer. It reminds me of sunshine.

I would say my style is cottage meets east coast nautical- with a good measure of color and pattern thrown in. Most of our pieces are old thrifted finds that we have upcycled. Isn’t it amazing what a few coats of paint can do?

So, I hope you enjoy today’s Beachy Style Lake House Tour.

Come on in and take a tour of our Beachy Style Lake House Summer Tour at The Happy Housie

So without further ado, come on in!

Things haven’t changed in the entry hall very much since my last house tour, though I did decide to go with a layered turquoise and white scheme with only a few other hits of colour…

Let’s head into the living room….

You will notice I am a big fan of gallery walls and brightly coloured pillows- I switch out my pillows several times a year, sewing new ones using my DIY envelope pillow tutorial.

I love a relaxed and casual style and most of our furniture is upcycled thrifted finds that I have fixed up with a little paint.

Check out my project galleries for more information on the projects you see throughout our home.

The Living Room in our house leads directly into the Dining Room, which is open to the kitchen…. I think my favourite piece in the Dining Room is the old pew that some good friends of ours gave to us.

This area of our house is about to undergo a big renovation – we are completely redoing the Kitchen and are switching around the doors and windows in both the Dining Room and Kitchen as part of that project. It starts NEXT WEEK!!

Another upcycled piece that we have in the Dining Room area is an old china cabinet hutch that we upcycled into a faux “mantel” – I love to change out the décor on it seasonally (you know, every couple of weeks or so:). Right now I have a late summer beachy theme to the mantel – all the driftwood was collected while we were camping this summer. I wish I could say I made the Driftwood Fish too (well, I guess I could ‘say’ anything) but the truth is I bought it from a neighbour when they sold their house – and they bought it at a home décor shop.

And the kitchen… soon to be GONE! It may look okay from a distance, but the cabinets are peeling and falling apart and we want to extend the cabinetry to gain additional counter space. I will be back soon to share our plans.

    1. Hello Anne! Do you mean the wall colour in the living and dining room? That colour is a Benjamin Moore colour called Grant Beige. It is a nice neutral for sure! Thanks for your visit:)

  3. Beautifully decorated house! I was wondering where you purchased the ceramic tile on the floors? Also wondering if the tile is more gray or black? Thanks so much!

  4. Can you please tell me the color of the paint on the wall with the hat hanging and the round mirror it’s a sea blue…it look like that would be nice car for accent to a dark brown wall.. it has the white panel below the blue….thanks

    1. Hello,
The walls in our entry hall are painted with Benjamin Moore Colorado Gray – it is definitely a blue colour despite the name!

  5. Do you have a list of the paint colors used on the walls of each room in your lake house that you would share?

    1. Hi Tami!
The colours are all by Benjamin Moore. The hallway color is Colorado Gray and the Living and Dining Room is Grant Beige. Our bedroom used to be Blue Bow by CIL, but we have just repainted it sea foam by Benjamin Moore. The laundry room is Buttermilk, and the boy’s bedroom is Cloud White. Our ensuite bathroom is called Ash Blue. Hope that helps! Let me know if I missed an important one:) Thanks for your visit!

  6. Beautiful home. We have a lake house but it’s more of a cabin with all knotty pine. We have an old Maharaja water ski that we would love to put up on the wall without damaging it. Can you tell me how you put up your ski? Thanks for letting me into your wonderful home.

    1. Hi Martha!
We got our waterski from a garage sale so it isn’t as valuable as yours sounds- we removed the bottom fin at the back in order to hang it on the wall… We hung it using triangle hangers that we screwed into the back of the ski. So unfortunately I am not sure how to hang it without damaging it… unless you build some kind of shelf or ledge and you lean the ski up against the wall. Wish I could be of more help! Thanks for your visit:)
