Dollar Store Lemon Wreath with Ferns

Today I’m sharing how to make a fun summer wreath: a DIY dollar store lemon wreath with ferns.

This past weekend was May long weekend here in Canada which is always the unofficial start to summer.  Even though we are officially “in school” until the end of June, (despite the fact that we are all schooling at home right now), summer always feels like it’s just around the corner come this holiday weekend each year.

I’m really excited about warmer days at the lake and pool, getting out boating, and just having some time to relax and enjoy the sunshine.  What are you looking forward to about summer?

Today I’m sharing a simple dollar store wreath project – one of my favourite types of projects to share.  I love things that are fresh and fun and seasonal, but that don’t cost a lot to put together.

Being creative right now has been such a HUGE saviour to my mental health, so I’ve really enjoyed sharing this little seasonal projects.  I’m also joined by some of my friends, as this is part of the Seasonal Simplicity summer series this year.  Make sure to check out their amazing DIY wreath projects at the end of this post.

Lemons and ferns are both quintessential elements of summer to me… for different reasons.

Lemons remind me of the most delicious lemonade that my Aunt used to make each summer.  Every holiday season we would go to visit her family several hours away, and the delicious, fresh, tart lemonade she would serve us still holds a special place in my heart and memories as a symbol of spending time with extended family that we only got to see in the summertime.

Ferns always have a strong summer feel to me because they remind me of cool walks in the forest on hot summer days. Can’t you just feel that balmy cool that seems to emanate from the trees in the forest during the hot dog-days of summer?

I created a little video to show you how I made this simple, fresh, and cheery lemon and fern wreath.

Such a fun, simple, and thrifty project and I can’t wait to get our front porch ready for summer this coming week…

    1. Thank you Kelly! I picked up my summer ferns this weekend at Walmart, and put them in pots on the front deck so it looks great with this wreath:)
