My Favourite Organizing Tool: My Emily Ley Simplified Planner
Life is busy around here; as it is for most of us. Between school, work for both of us, kid’s sports and activities as well as projects and blogging it seems that days and weekends are generally pretty jam packed. Keeping track of it all can be a bit overwhelming, which is why I love my old-school paper and pen planner.
In fact, I find that I often accomplish more when life is busy. You just get into the mode and get more done.
But to be as efficient as possible, I definitely need to plan. And to plan well, you definitely need some fantastic tools for staying completely organized.
My Emily Ley Simplified Planner is my absolute favourite organizing tool!
I know lots of people are into digital versions of calendars and planners but I still love my old school paper and pen planner. The act of sitting down, thinking, and then writing helps me to focus my energy on what is truly important for that day.
I use it every single day to keep my hectic life as organized as I can possibly manage to; and I’m super excited about the new launch of the Emily Ley Simplified Planner for the 2017-2018 year!
Sometimes our brains get swirling with a million ideas and to-dos and it all gets pretty confusing and overwhelming.
I like to have a spiral bound notebook to “dump” all my lists and thoughts into, which allows me to focus on only what really matters in my daily planner. We can’t do everything; Home and Rome wasn’t built in a day, right??
So after I’ve had a brain dump, I can use my (Academic Daily) Simplified Planner to record only what truly matters for that day; putting aside the stress of what needs to happen down the road.
Take it as it comes, right??! One thing at a time. But plan for what’s ahead…
I have searched high and low for the perfect planner over the years, friends, and I truly believe that this is it. I wouldn’t share it with you with such enthusiasm if I didn’t love it and use it and honestly recommend it to anyone trying to keep their busy lives on track. I know it’s a bit of an investment, but it has paid me back double with the increased organization it’s created in my life.
At the beginning of each day I spend a few minutes thinking over the day ahead and noting down activities, tasks, and to-dos for that day in my (Academic Daily) Simplified Planner. There is an area to plan your day hour-by-hour from 6am through 9pm; as well as a running to do list for each day. At the bottom there is even an area for extra notes and for planning dinner!
Seriously – Emily Ley has thought of everything in designing this planner. It also has monthly calendars in addition to daily pages…
I currently have the Academic Daily Happy Stripe, but I have plans to change it up to one of the new covers for the year ahead!
Guess which one I just ordered?!
