Friday’s Faves

Hello friends!

I refuse to start this week’s favourites post with how busy our week was. Instead, let’s talk about how it’s finally starting to feel like spring around here!

The Plum trees that line the fence in our front garden are in full bloom, as is the Forsythia. Mid-April means that baseball season is about to start around here, and soon it will be one of my favourite months of the year: May! I love how the days are continually getting longer, the air is warm but not hot, and the sounds of lawnmowers buzzing always puts a little smile on my face.

May! A month ripe with the pleasure of soaking in the outdoors after a long stretch of winter.

We made great progress on Finn’s bedroom makeover this past week and I am so excited about how it’s coming together! Maybe you got a chance to check out the wallpaper mural that my Mom helped me install for him? I mentioned that we also ordered some new curtains to fit better with his design (once the mural was up we just weren’t loving the yellow anymore)…

I had originally planned to stick with the yellow drapes that I had made a few years back as they are totally blackout, but it was my husband who encouraged me to just order new ones instead. And I love the ones we picked! Nothing else compared to them as far as fitting with the look we have going on, especially now that the mural is in and his stunning Metrie Shiplap is up!

Did you see my Instagram story about it? I also shared the step by step process of installing the wallpaper mural on my stories. Stories are a great place to keep up with the behind the scenes.

I’m hoping to get the shiplap project finished up this weekend, and then start to look for some finishing touches on his room as well as piece together his gallery wall. I also found some agate knobs similar to these at a local hardware store that I’d love to incorporate into his space…

All of this surf room decorating has me getting my head into beachy/summer mode and craving all things blue! Which is nothing, shocking, really. Wouldn’t this cute little fishnet wrapped Mason Jar via It All Started With Paint would be a fun spring/summer craft project?

I love how Linda actually teaches you how to tie your own fishnet in this tutorial…

I’m hoping we get our exterior and landscaping plans finish off this spring so we can really enjoy our outdoor space this summer. Something like this modern wood slatted outdoor privacy screen via City Farmhouse would be perfect on our lower patio, or as a semi-fence on the neighbour side of our yard.

And my friend Laura shared a super fun outdoor customized DIY doormat via The Turquoise Home this week. What would your’s say?

I was thinking something like “flipflops only ahead” or “lake this way”…

I’ve started letting my mind wander towards summer projects and I would really love to revamp our deck space a little this summer. Unfortunately our outdoor furniture has not held up very well in the hot south facing exposure we have, so I would like to move it to the lower patio under cover and find something a little more durable for the upper deck. One thing that has held up ridiculously well over the winter is our recycled plastic Adirondack chairs from our fire pit area. We even sat out on them for a little bit on Sunday, though we had our blankets in toe.

I saw that Joss & Main has some similar ones on sale right now

Last week I shared my fascination with the gorgeous patterned vintage tile that is popping up everywhere these days. And my jaw totally dropped to the floor this week when I spotted this stunning kitchen tile via Magnolia Homes.

The whole makeover is awesome! I want to live there. Did you see this episode?

Have you read The Magnolia Story yet?

Speaking of JoAnna and Chip, my friend Lauren actually got the interview THE Chip Gaines! And she shared it all over at Bless’er House this week.

And speaking of kitchens! I’ve been dreaming lately of new counter stools for ours… I’m not sure when that will happen, but I absolutely adore the beachy Hamptons feel of these Riviera stools from  Serena & Lily

Do you think they’d look great snugged up to our island? Or would you stick with backless stools?

This weekend around here involves Soccer, Tag Day for the Track club, and Baseball practice. I’d also like to squeeze in some more progress on Finn’s bedroom, and get a few unnecessary items that are taking up garage space donated or listed and sold. Have you done any spring organizing or cleaning lately? What are your weekend plans?
