DIY Lemon & Olive Kitchen Wreath

An easy to make DIY kitchen wreath perfect for spring with lemons and olive branches.

Have you ever hung a wreath in your kitchen? It’s such a quick and easy way to add a touch of seasonal flair to your decor! I recently added springy touches to our kitchen (see my article on spring kitchen decor with lemons here). Adding faux lemons to my olive branch wreath was a quick and easy way to update it for the new season, and I love the pop of cheery colour it adds to our kitchen hood fan area.

Often seasonal decorating can be as easy as looking around and seeing what you can tweak or embellish to echo the sensibility of the new time of year. This kitchen wreath is a perfect example of taking an evergreen or wintergreen DIY and tweaking it to suit Springtime.

A Simple Transition from Winter to Spring

During the winter I made this simple DIY olive branch wreath and hung it on our kitchen hood fan. In order to transition my kitchen wreath over to the spring season, I wanted to add a pop of yellow to go with the other lemon decor I added to the kitchen. I always identify lemons with springtime for some reason. Perhaps it’s an association with lemon meringue pie and lemon tarts at Easter.

Materials for this Project

As I mentioned, this was a simple project in which I transitioned my winter olive branch wreath over to spring by adding some lemons to the mix. I picked up these faux lemons at the dollar store a few years back (The Dollar Tree). I have also seem lovely faux lemons at Michaels, in the Walmart craft section, and via Amazon.

In addition to the faux lemons, I used three olive branches and a grapevine wreath form to create this DIY kitchen wreath. I also used my glue gun and hot glue sticks.

How to Make this Kitchen Wreath

I started out with my DIY olive branch wreath – you can read the full article and tutorial on that here. To add the branches to the grapevine form, I simple wove the stem into the base as far as I could and then twisted the branch into place. I secured each with hot glue until the whole grapevine form was covered fairly evenly by the three olive branches.

I just chose places on the wreath that I wanted to add the lemons and hot glued them in place. Done!
