4F Craftin: A St. Patrick’s Day Bunting

I, personally, have never decorated for St. Patrick’s Day up until this year. My festive celebration of this holiday has generally consisted of wearing green and consuming matching coloured beverages. But my most crafty of friends Megan, who decorates for each and every season, has opened my eyes to the beauty that a little nod to good ol’ St. Pat can create within your home.

Megan is the true brains behind Operation Seasonal  Bunting but I was involved in the construction of the project and learned greatly from her expert tutelage. I will now pass on to you the knowledge that she so generously bestowed upon me:

Materials needed:

  • green paint chips (or you could sub in green paper or cardstock)
  • an old book that you are willing to rip the pages from
  • green buttons
  • scissors
  • glue gun and glue
  • a heart shaped craft punch if you wish to be ‘perfect’ (we free handed it)
  • a hole punch
  • yarn or ribbon for hanging the bunting

The general process:

Cut the hearts out of the paint chips using scissors or your craft punch. Cut a triangle out of the bottom of the book pages:

Glue the hearts in a clover shape on the book pages and add a little button to the point where they intersect:

Hole punch the book pages in two spots. String the yarn or ribbon through the hole:

Hang  and Enjoy!

Luck o'the Irish

I also thought that it would be fun to make this using four leaf clovers (four hearts rather than three) or you could just add one four leaf clover to the overall bunting, since they are very scarce (and therefore very lucky:)!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

And remember, my housie friends, HOME wasn’t built in a day. Enjoy the journey!
