Holiday Mantel Decorating Ideas & Our Christmas Mantel Decor
Today I’m sharing a collection of beautiful holiday mantel decorating ideas as well as my own simple Christmas mantel decor this year featuring our giant village houses.
I can hardly believe that this is already the second year that I’ve decorated this mantel for Christmas! It’s been exactly one year since we moved out of our previous house and into our new home, which means that it will be our second Christmas here. A lot has changed in that year. Two new bathrooms, one completely renovated kitchen, an updated master bedroom, and a majorly refreshed exterior. Eek! No wonder I’m so exhausted and looking forward to the holidays this year.
And to be honest, I’ve kept things pretty simple on the holiday decor front and have enjoyed the challenge of mainly re-using what we already had in new ways and only purchasing a few new decor items. These village houses have been in my Christmas collection for years now, though I did find the two smaller white ones this year to add to my holiday collection. I love how they all pop against our charcoal grey fireplace.
Today it is week four of the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas series, and my friends and I are all sharing our Christmas mantels all decorated for the holidays, as well as a variety of tips and ideas to inspire your holiday mantel decor this year!
Those of us who don’t have an actual mantel are sharing some Holiday vignette decorating ideas that I know you’ll love. Be sure to check out everyone’s ideas as the bottom of today’s post.
If you are new here and have hopped over from one of the other bloggers sharing today, then welcome! My name is Krista and I’ve been sharing my ideas and projects on this blog space for about six years now. You can read more about me and this blog here.
Now back to this year’s holiday mantel. Those village houses, right?! I love them too!
I’ve had so many readers email about them over the years. I bought them at a little one-off shop in a nearby city many years ago, but I’ve tracked down some similar ones…
I added some fun fur accessories in the pillow and stockings, as they work well to tie in our all white Scandi Farmhouse Christmas tree (which I shared the details about in this post).
It has a really warm glow and gives the whole space a completely different cozy feel when it’s lit up…
The vintage cross country skis are originally from Quebec and were a second hand find through a retired vintage goods dealer that I came across on a Facebook vintage page a couple of years ago. I really love how the wood tones work with the natural wood tones I used on the tree, as well as with the wooden antler sign that I hung on the other side of the fireplace.
This North Pole Brewing Co. sign is one of the few new finds that I purchased this year; I found it at HomeSense and couldn’t resist.
There you go… simple and crisp and I think a little bit graphic with the oversized houses and the contrast of the white, wood, and bright colours against the charcoal fireplace.
The asymmetrical open wooden shelves that were installed by the previous owners have really grown on me, and it’s been a fun challenge coming up with new designs each season. You can see how it looked last Christmas here. And head over here to see how our mantel looked in the spring, the summer, and the fall.
And welcome to the fourth week of the Seasonal Simplicity Christmas Series!
As I mentioned, today a group of my blogging friends and I are sharing our Holiday Mantels and a few vignette decorating ideas, to help inspire you for the upcoming holidays. Click on the links below each image to be taken directly to the different posts.
